Growing in English

This weeks reading was different examples of how people grew in their reading and writing skills. The story that sticks out to me the most is the story about Malcolm X. I found it very interesting that he thought going to prison was a great experience for him. I completely agree with him on this. In prison he had nothing to do, but he was forced to be there, but outside of prison no one was forcing him to go to school or to learn.
He decided to step up and take advantage of being in prison. I really respect him for that. He took a terrible situation and made some good come out of it. His vocabulary expanded immensely and his writing improved tremendously. He said that all he wanted to do was read in his spare time and that's all he did. He even staid up past light's out.
Malcolm is a good example of someone who took what he was given and made the best out of it.
